Replying to Youube comments

Just thinking about replying to YouTube comments I try to reply to comments but often forget all about it.
So  just some quick questions.

Do you reply to comments ?

Also can replying to comments help a channel grow ?

Although some comments I feel like they really don't need replying to such as I get a lot of

Also I get a lot of foreign and being English I sometimes ignore the foreign comments as it can be a pain having to translate the comment then reply in the correct language but I am considering using google translate for those comments.

Well youtube is run by Google. So if you take that into account, any interaction, comments, likes, dislikes, views and responses all work for the greater good of your channel.

They want to promote videos that are active and popular. Not dead and boring. SO it is safe to say, responding to comments is a great thing.

In regards to the foreign things, be careful. The majority of foreign comments ends up being spam, or a predecessor to spam. Once you respond, you will get 5-10 more comments by the same person / bot with links and spam on other videos; and not just that particular poster either. It will spawn. I know, been there, done that. It seems to be a trigger. If its a "you play game good" or "skyrim special edition - gameplay" I would be weary. Anything that is real cold, super vague and doesn't make sense. BUT if it is "man, when you hit that other guy and he went flying LOL" that is probably legit. When it is particular and you can relate.

Ye4s. I've seen ma y youtubers take the time to respond to say all (legit and not rude) comments within the first say 12 hours after upload and the occasional high value one after that.
If you get a really constructive comment that's of value to your community of watchers - give it a  heart. That person is then more likely to contribute quality posts in future.
