YouTube views dropping

What I mean does anyone else have their views drop ?

What I mean is 1 of my videos had 4 views and when I went on my channel it has dropped to 3 views.

I think YouTube recalibrates your views occasionally to account for bots and such.

Rhody is correct. Though usually that doesn't happen for a while - like a few months a year when youtube does their bot strike. Some of the big guns will see their sub count drop 100's from time to time when they do that.

I always get hit with the "ad for viagara or go-go girls . to or something." which in turn created a bot view, and when they strike those bots, the view usually goes with it.

Sometimes the backend view count is different than what the public sees too. I have had vids that had 48 views on the video page and it said 39 views in the backend. It has been better recently.

I also posted (on the other board) a few videos of larger channels watching their view count go down before their eyes. Like one hit 200K, then as they were doing other things they looked at the video and it had 175K, as they watched it was going backwards. Mind you they usually had 500K views a video the first day and they ended up with less than 200K for it. As I recall they never found out why views were being taken away from them for that video. It did happen on a few of their other ones too, but as faras I know it's stopped.

Also, the last and probably most likely reason.

It's Youtube.

One other thing.

I am looking through my backend and I see my streaming vids, there is 25 views, 19 views, 31 views and then there is one, stuck in the middle with 9.

I click on it and it has... 9 likes. so... what youtube is telling me is that every single person who watched the video (it had an average of 40 minutes watched) liked it?

Just putting this out there to show, yeah, something weird with this video, all of my other videos are in the 20's and 30's but this one is only 9?

This happens once in a while with my videos. Makes me curious though. Is it truly only 9 views? Did this video get black listed from the algorithm? Does this not show up on my feed? (That has happened with a few of my videos, they just don't show up in my feed, in my video listing or anything until like a week later).

Something similar happened on my channel. I play quite a few Dora The Explorer games as I am guaranteed quite a views likes and new subs.

My Dora videos range from about 300 views to 64 thousand but 1 Dora video only got 10 views and I thought it was a bit strange.

Turned out it was blocked in nearly every country imaginable due to a song the strange thing is the song has also been on a few other of the Dora gameplays with no issues what so ever.

The important thing about YouTube analytics is not to get stuck on the detail. The stats are useful in an overall sense re trends, watch time graphs for a video etc; but don't worry about minor things like view count discrepancies or likes discrepancies here and there. As the saying goes "There Be Dragons"
