What are people's thoughts about YouTube Shorts?

I personally don't like them at all. Neither as a creator or viewer.

I made a few.  Didn't do much for the channel and ultimately felt that it wasn't worth pursuing as a part of my channel content.  I have recently started posting those on TikTok since that's the sort of original basis for the YouTube shorts.   I figure that's a better avenue for them and perhaps it will drive a bit o' traffic to my YouTube page.

Yes I think YT shorts is an ill-conceived attempt at trying to compete in a race they were never going to be competitive in.
IF they were going to do such a thing they should have come up with a specific shorts platform entirely separate to YouTube (as we know it)  to directly compete. That would also allow some flexibility / different rules around allowed content etc.

Its a copy-cat world.

The "stories" on Instagram is huge for that platform, Facebook somewhat. Twitter tried it and they pulled it after about 9 months.

This is a way Goog's and Youtube are trying to cut into the idea and style.

I personally don't mind them, I have made a few. They don't do very well in views but at this point nothing of mine does. Just keeping myself busy.

Lastly, I do watch shorts on Facebook and Instagram, they are usually football related. But other than that I avoid them. Not sure I have watched too many "shorts" on youtube either.
