Large Video Uploads

As a gamer who uploads Longplays some of the videos can be 7 plus hours long and up to 100GB in size.
I usually upload at night so when I get up in the morning it will be uploaded.

I just wish Youtube would provide a pause upload feature it would make the process a lot easier.

Yeah. I always thought they had a pause but a few years back when my internet connection wasn't the best, I found out they do not.

Luckily I have a gigabit upload where I am on fiber optics, so a 8GB video took about 6 minutes to upload.

In my streaming for @ 3 hours, I get close to 40-45 minute watch time on my vids. Which is better than my highly edited videos. Weird.

Not great between 10 - 100 views depending on what game it is not sure about the watch hours as I don't really check.

I used to only upload videos 30 minutes or less but when I was uploading a game that was 7 - 8 hours in length I ended up getting to part 20 I just find it easier to upload a longplay and use chapter time stamps

Yeah. Hit that issue last November. Realized I was only publishing so many videos (20 minutes long) and I had close to 25 hours of footage to go through yet.

So I stopped my gameplay recordings, and just started to stream instead. Well, I still edit videos, I love doing that, but I only publish them once every two weeks, because streaming now takes up a good 8 hours a weekend now.

To put it in perspective, I published (16) 20 minute videos since I stopped recording gameplay,  and I am now just using the November 20th footage of last year. But I only have about 3 hours left to go, and I cut out almost 75% of the footage anyways.

Just read your post and was like, YUP. I getcha, I understand.

Just uploaded a longplay to my Youtube decided to do it at 9 o'clock last night and at it only finished at about 5 o'clock this after noon and it's still processing about 2 hours later.

I suppose the video was very large with being about 116 GB in size and about 6 hours long.

I am seriously thinking about buying a cheap laptop and just use that to upload to free up my main PC.

Dumb question but you are plugged into your router correct? its not a WiFi connection?

No it's asda mobile broadband through a dongle at about 18.0 Mbps upload speed tried getting proper broadband but my credit is not good.
But still it's a lot better than my old three mobile broadband which was about 2 mbps upload that took about 3 hours for a 1gb upload

18 Mbps upload speed.  Yeah that sounds about right... for most of us on broadband here in Australia.

But that's in theory (ookla) - the actual connection speed to YT servers would be, I amine, significantly less.

Sigh. I feel bad saying this. I just tested my speed, its 912Mbps down, 410Mbps upload. Just uploaded my latest video in under 3 minutes I think. It was aroudn 3GB.

Damed it a new bloke moved in to our shared house and sorted out broadband such a pity that his download is 24mbps

And mine is 34-50mbps

and his upload is 12 mbps and mine is 18-20 mbps.

damned it I thought a real broadband would be faster but obviously way slower
