I get quite a few copyright claims on gaming videos due to the soundtracks I have considered removing the music but I really feel that this would spoil the atmosphere of the game.
As the music can really add something to the storyline of the game.

Yup.

I was playing a huge mod for Fallout 4. I uploaded a few videos from it and they instantly were nabbed with a copyright claim. The modders used copyrighted music...? Luckily I am not monetized, nor will I ever be. So they can suck it.

Sometimes I get nailed for something like "Skyrim ambient music" by some off brand company that is loosely associated with Bethesda and I always fight it. It always goes away. I think a lot of these places have the "throw spaghetti against the wall and sees what sticks" process, and they get money from unsuspecting channels that don't want to fight it.

Yes I suspect thats very much it, and it is very annoying. Especially when we are TRYING to do the right thing.
There are no rules in film-making. Only sins. And the cardinal sin is dullness.

Yeah. I got another copyright claim.

This is the third one, for the same thing "Fallout 4 theme" and it is the third different company. Each of the companies I could barely find anything out, and they talk about the "melody" and not the song. Meaning, if this was legit, which it is not, this song hits 4-5 notes like another song so they think they can claim it. Luckily it was not an important part of my video, so I just put a cool Otis McDonald song over top.

I rarely fight them because youtube, or should i say BOTtube is scary with that. If I fight it, they say sorry, I have heard of the channel then getting a permanent strike, so I just get a little angry, shrug my shoulders and move on.

A copyright owner using Content ID has claimed some material in your video.

Your video is live and the visibility settings you selected remain applied to it. But it is now either being monetized by the copyright owner, or they have chosen to receive analytics about it.

This is not a copyright strike. This claim does not affect your account status.
