Just a quick message or question

What does Sub For Sub actually mean ?

Is it when you say's Iv'e subbed to you can you sub back ? Which I have no problem with as I find it no different to asking when recording a video to saying can you subscribe to me or adding a Sub button.

Any opinions

As I understand it Sub for Sub means you sub to my channel and I'll sub to yours, even though our channels may not be of interest to each other and we don't plan on watching each other's videos.  It's frowned upon as you are accumulating subs who have no interest in your content.  Once they've subbed to your channel that's it - they aren't watching your videos.  When your subs don't watch your content, that tells YouTube that your content isn't good which further hurts your channel.

Rhody is dead on. It goes with the same ideals of Googles search algorithm - why would google want to list a website that is stagnate, unpopular, slow. It goes the same for channels on the tube. It is why it is very difficult to succeed on the platform anymore. Over-saturation and the algorithm is geared towards already situated channels with millions of subs.

On a side note, it is hard to keep track if they keep subbing to you. This happens on Twitter as well. Someone follows you, and if you follow back, a week later they stop following you. This makes their account look more legit in ways, more following you than you following others. I guess that happens with a lot, IG is close to the same as well.

Never did a sub for sub on Youtube, but I did get saddled with a ton of Anime fans with my Sucubus videos that eventually got me my only strike on Youtube. I went from 1200 to 3500 almost overnight, then Youtube killed them and the growth stopped. I have been about the same ever since, but my sub-to-view ratio is honestly putrid. 3,500 subs to 50-60 views per video, if that anymore.

Bottom line, it is an unhealthy sub base that will do you no favors in the long run.
