I don't have a commercial affiliation with anyone, so can keep all my recommendations here objective.

For some time I have been considering the question of whether ads on YouTube would be a viable way of growing a subscriber base / viewer base on a channel.

I have watched a lot of videos on the matter, and came across one which I think is particularly good at discussing the pros and cons of that approach.


TL;DR - Can work, if done properly.  Organic growth is necessary though, advertising alone won't carry the day.
